Morphology of virus-like particles persisting in murine ependymoblastoma in vitro.

چکیده
SUMMARY Virus-like particles were recently described in an ependymoblastoma of CS7BL/J mice. For characterization of these particles, the tumor was explanted into cell culture. This study reports the growth of these cells in culture and the persistence of virus-like particles in the cells for up to 5 months in culture. The particles correspond to intracyto plasmic A particles and extracellular enveloped A and B particles of the murine RNA tumor group. The particles meet all the morphological criteria of the mammary tumor agent. Two unusual findings of this study are the occurrence of B particles in nonmammary tissue and their long-term persistence in tissue culture.

Reversal by dithiothreitol treatment of the block in murine leukemia virus maturation induced by disulfide cross-linking.
We previously reported that if murine leukemia virus particles are produced in the presence of the mild oxidizing agent disulfide-substituted benzamide-2, they fail to undergo the normal process of virus maturation. We now show that treatment of these immature particles with a reducing agent (dithiothreitol) induces their maturation in vitro, as evidenced by proteolytic cleavage of Gag, Gag-Pol...
متن کاملTransformation of mouse 3T3 cells by murine sarcoma virus: release of virus-like particles in the absence of replicating murine leukemia helper virus.
Small numbers of virus-like particles were observed by electron microscopy in each of two cloned lines of 3T3 cells transformed by murine sarcoma virus, even though these lines were free of detectable quantities of infectious leukemia and sarcoma virus. The morphology and occurrence of the particles were identical to those of the murine leukemia-sarcoma group. Moreover, the particles incorporat...
متن کاملExpression and characterization of virus-like particles containing rubella virus structural proteins.
Rubella virus (RV) virions contain two envelope glycoproteins (E1 and E2) and a capsid protein (C). Noninfectious RV-like particles (VLPs) containing three structural proteins were expressed in a BHK cell line (BHK-24S) by using an inducible promoter. These VLPs were found to resemble RV virons in terms of their size, their morphology, and some biological activities. In immunoblotting studies, ...
متن کاملTransient expression of virus-like particles in plants: a promising platform for rapid vaccine production
Transient expression is an efficient and fast system to express recombinant proteins which has been used in different eukaryotic hosts such as mammalian and plant cells. Several applications of this system have so far been used which expression of proteins of interest is one of them. Recently, plants have attracted attention for being used as hosts for the production of recombinant pharmaceutic...
